You don’t need to know who I am to like (or dislike) what I do. I’ve always tried my best to keep my virtual avatar and my true identity separate — but equal? dude, that’s racist. It’s simply that I’d rather keep my ‘private life’ as private as possible, for I don’t want it to influence your reading. But I guess I can feed you with some evasive facts about me, that will give you something to chew on.

The Classical me

Let’s put the past behind right away. Some of you might be wondering what kind of traumatizing pile of horseshit I must have experienced in my childhood to have turned out that stressed out, sarcastic, and cynical. Two things: you’re wrong, and who the fuck cares? My past made me who I am today and I am grateful for (or at least okay with) pretty much everything that has happened to me so far. J.D. said it before, it’s never good to live in the past too long

The Contemporary me

On paper, I’m just a boring individual. No, seriously.

  • I live somewhere in Europe — if you can you guess where exactly, you get a cookie.
  • I am studying English in college — history, literature, translation, linguistics…
  • I love speaking English, eating Haribo candy, and reviewing Art — no shit, Sherlock?!

Artwise — what? that’s not a word? it is, now — I have two fundamental principles, two tacit agreements with myself, two truths that I hold to be self-evident:

  • I try to never be watching two pieces of work of similar nature at the same time. Simply because I don’t want one plot to interfere with the other, I don’t want the two worlds to collide, I don’t want the characters to get mixed up… I choose to devote my whole attention to one story, all the more if it is to go on for several episodes and/or seasons. It’s really a question of investment, dedication, commitment.
  • I try to never be watching a piece of work that has not been completed yet. And by ‘it’ I don’t mean the season, I mean the whole series. I believe that involving myself that deeply kind of entitles me to get a finished product to enjoy. And honestly, the waiting is just killing me. It is a little different for movies that belong to a trilogy or something, because they are supposed to be standalone as well as part of a whole.

The Future me?

*You can never be so sure about what the future holds for you. Yet you’re allowed to have dreams, projects, plans. I still have many years of studies ahead of me, if I really am to teach in university. I’ll try my hardest to remain academically inclined, because it sure as hell ain’t gonna be easy. I hope the world will not go down in flames. I hope the human race will eventually get fixed somehow — how about a good old ‘humanity 2.0’ patch, huh? So yeah, bumpy road ahead and shit. The quote I gave you earlier actually keeps going, and I like it this way: as for the future, it [can] be whatever I [want] it to be. But can it?
